Nobody likes going to the dentist! What if a dental office doubled as an art gallery? Imagine being able to enjoy original art works by local artists while you wait. West Gray Dental is located in the Montrose area, the heart of the Houston art scene. The MFAH’s Glassell School of Art is not far away, Lassaulx’s Art Studio is just down the street, and art galleries abound within a two-mile radius.
The sleek, modern building is an original design by a local architect. The natural light that floods its interior through large windows and soaring ceilings provides ideal conditions to showcase Dr. Ho’s cosmetic dental creations. It’s also optimal to display visual art. In fact, with the white interiors, diffuse natural light, and minimalist furnishings, it could be mistaken for an art gallery.
A people person and lover of art, Dr. Ho is delighted to open her beautiful space to local, emerging artists. She calls it Dent’Art. Each month, a different group of artists show their work, with Saturday evening opening and closing receptions as the perfect excuse to throw a party and meet creative-minded people. There is no charge to the artists, nor commission taken. The concept is so successful, that Dr. Ho’s unique art gallery has an exhibition already scheduled each month through early fall. Building community, supporting the arts, and providing new art works for her patients to view each month, Dent’Art is a big success and a lot of fun.
